Vik Master Suite
The Dark Canvas. A wooden cocoon for Hugo Longa’s collages, cut from magazines, photographs and coloured paper in imaginative, carefree colour.
A Wooden Cocoon. Longa’s suite is a masterclass in texture and enclosure. The space is entirely wrapped in wood, creating a dark, sensory cocoon.
The polished elegance of the dark wall paneling contrasts sharply with the rustic, raw texture of the ceiling, which is covered in thousands of hand-cut wooden shingles that resemble the scales of a mythical creature.
The brooding, monochrome palette of the wood serves as a deliberate “Dark Canvas” for Longa’s art.
His collages, cut from magazines, photographs and fragments of coloured paper and worked in the automatic way the surrealists proclaimed, pop against the brown background with imaginative, carefree colour.
The seamless flow of wood from the sleeping quarters to the bathing area blurs the lines between architecture and furniture, grounding the guest in the warmth of natural materials.
The organic theme reaches its peak in the bathroom, which centers around a stunning, custom-crafted wooden bathtub.
In this suite, the design creates a protective shell, evocative of a primal shelter. Within this wooden sanctuary, a place where vibrant, disjointed figures and psychological depth challenge the viewer to look beyond the surface.
