Set directly on Playa Mansa, in the village of José Ignacio, Playa Vik brings together bold architecture, contemporary art and the changing light of the Atlantic.
Originally conceived by Carrie and Alex Vik as a home by the sea and created with Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott, it unfolds around The Sculpture and six uniquely designed casitas with living roofs. Retractable glass, private terraces and gardens keep the ocean constantly present.
The intimacy and warmth of a private residence remain at the heart of Playa Vik.
This is José Ignacio experienced by the sea.
Days at Playa move slowly.
Wake to the sound of the ocean, swim before breakfast, walk barefoot along the beach and let the afternoon drift between the sauna, the sea, the pool and the gardens. As the light begins to fall, everything turns toward Playa Mansa, the place to be for sunset in José Ignacio.
Where the ocean meets the sky.
Intimate and relaxed, it is a place for couples, families and guests drawn to privacy, architecture, art and life by the sea.
The Sculpture and the individual casitas create a collection of rooms and private spaces, each with its own art, materials and character.
Ocean-facing suites look across Playa Mansa, while rooms within the casitas open towards private gardens, terraces and living spaces. Fireplaces, retractable openings and living roofs bring the landscape into the architecture.

At Playa Vik, Wellbeing begins with the ocean
Movement comes through swimming, surfing, walking the beach and time spent outdoors.
Restoration comes through the sound of the sea, time spent contemplating the horizon, immersion in salt water, sunset, and the contrast between the warmth of the sauna and the cool Atlantic.
Guests can also enjoy the wider Vik José Ignacio wellbeing offering, including The Shack Wellness at Bahia Vik.
Playa Vik was created by Carrie and Alex Vik with Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott as a dialogue between architecture, contemporary art and the Atlantic.
At its centre, The Sculpture combines glass, curved titanium and warm timber with expansive openings towards the Atlantic. Pablo Atchugarry’s monumental bronze entrance door marks the arrival, while contemporary Uruguayan and international art inhabits the building, rooms and casitas.
Beyond The Sculpture, six individual casitas disappear into gardens and living roofs. Retractable openings dissolve the boundary between interior and landscape.
