Fishing
Enjoy a fishing adventure offshore or in the lagoon, surrounded by the open landscapes and waters of José Ignacio.
Design suites and bungalows set among the dunes of Playa Mansa, the calmer side of the peninsula. Relaxed, open and naturally social, Bahía brings together generous shared spaces, pools, Zodiaco and The Shack in an easy rhythm of beach, wellbeing and time together.
Bahía Vik brings together contemporary design, art, open spaces and the relaxed social energy of life by the sea.
It unfolds around a central building of Uruguayan grey slate and fifteen individually designed bungalows immersed in the landscape.
Private terraces, native grasses and direct access to the sand keep beach life always within reach, while pools, gardens and generous shared spaces create a naturally social atmosphere.
This is José Ignacio lived barefoot.
Days at Bahía happen naturally. Start barefoot on the beach, move between the pools and the dunes, spend time at The Shack Wellness, then find your way back to Zodiaco for something to eat, a drink or an evening together.
Open, relaxed and naturally social, Bahía works especially well for families and groups, with enough space to come together and enough privacy to disappear when you want to.
Ten individually conceived suites sit within the main building, while fifteen architecturally distinct bungalows are scattered through the dunes.
Each has its own relationship with art, materials and landscape. Main-building suites open onto private terraces or patios with views across the gardens and the ocean, while the bungalows offer more independent living, private decks and configurations ranging from intimate two-bedroom residences to larger spaces for families and groups.
Native grasses and dunes create privacy between them, while the beach remains just beyond.

Fifteen distinct houses in the dunes, each with its own architecture, art and character. Some are designed around two bedrooms and a living room, while larger configurations make Bahía especially well suited to families and groups travelling together.
Burgos Ana Burgos worked the headboard in ceramic before the room had a bed.
Escardo Line drawings straight onto the lime plaster, left unframed.
Eva One of the largest suites, 60 m² · 645 sq ft, its private terrace looking over the garden.
Guerra Oil on the ceiling rather than the wall: you read it lying down.
Juan Manuel Wood, rope and iron, all of it made within forty kilometres.
Lopez Lage Heavy pigment and a bed set low, with a private patio and side views to the ocean.
Patrone Photographs of the dune printed on the wall it looks out at.
Pemper Mirrors set into the plaster, so the bay arrives twice.
Rita On the ground floor, with a private patio and side views to the ocean; it can be connected to Paulos.
Paulos Connects to Rita, with a private patio.
Adobe Earth walls, half a metre thick, cool at three in the afternoon.
Azulejos Hand-painted tile across the whole of one wall and into the bath.
Chapa Azul Blue sheet metal, and rain you can hear properly.
Comporta Thatch and lime, borrowed from the Portuguese coast.
Corten Weathered steel that keeps changing colour with the salt.
Duna Set deepest into the sand, with the dune above the window line.
Greek Whitewash and shade, and a courtyard that does the cooling.
Madera Uruguayan timber, unpainted, left to grey in the salt.
Piedra Local stone laid dry, with the largest terrace of the fifteen.
Quincha Reed and cane over timber, the oldest way of roofing here.
Ryokan Timber, paper and a bath you sit in rather than lie in.
Titanio Titanium, the same skin as the roof at Playa Vik.
Vidrio Glass on three sides, and blinds you will not use.
Zinc Marrón Brown zinc, warm at sunset and the colour of the sand behind it.
Zinc Negro Black zinc, the darkest of the fifteen and the coolest inside. Six courses. VIK Wines. Candlelight.
On selected Thursday evenings, Patio de Moras takes on a different rhythm.
Six courses unfold through a changing menu of seasonal creations, each paired with selected VIK Wines and served beneath the warm glow of candlelight.
An intimate evening within Bahía’s most social space, created around food, wine and the pleasure of sharing.

Fresh local ingredients and dishes designed for sharing are served across a series of different settings: beside the pools, overlooking the ocean, within the intimate Patio de Moras or around the signature 360° Bar.
Relaxed and social, food here follows the same rhythm as the rest of Bahía: generous, seasonal and made to be enjoyed together.
In the sand of Playa Mansa, in the shade of bamboo pergolas, with the sun coming lightly through and the ocean running from Punta del Este to the lighthouse.
Produce from the southern Atlantic coast and the local organic farm, put together in a creative yet simple way, with the full Viña VIK cellar behind it.
An event space built directly on the waterfront, with a large terrace on the beach. A dome with hundreds of skylights in the form of stars: Lapacho hardwood outside, textural maple within.
Bahía Vik is beside it, so the guests sleep where the gathering was.

Wellbeing here has a home.
The Shack Wellness is the wellbeing hub of Vik José Ignacio. A dedicated space for movement, recovery and treatments, designed to become part of the natural rhythm of the day.
Movement comes through yoga, strength, training, swimming, dancing and time outdoors.
Restoration comes through sauna, cold plunge, massage, sound healing, rest and the slower rhythm of the dunes, pools and sea.
Created by Carrie and Alex Vik with Uruguayan architect Marcelo Daglio, it was designed around an open relationship between architecture, art and the dune landscape.
The central grey-slate building opens around a sun-filled courtyard towards the pools and ocean, creating generous spaces for gathering.
Beyond it, fifteen bungalows take on different architectural identities across the dunes. Each suite and bungalow brings together its own artists, objects, materials and character.
Rather than repeating a single hotel-room formula, Bahía becomes a collection of individual places to live by the sea.
